about
'Every man is an Island' is the latest single from Miss Noyd. It deals with everyday tragedy, the type of tragedy that doesn’t require assumption to understand. It’s about the deterioration of a man’s mental health, a fisherman who has spent his whole life autonomous. His brain now unable to comprehend its own incapability, he tries to invite his own reflection inside to get warm.
The conceptual nature of the recording is an unexpected detour from Miss Noyd’s usual sound that couldn’t have been pulled off without the parts of Markus Dvergastein on Bass guitar and Brage Tørmænen on drums and the creative hand of the co-producer from Store Studio, Are Bredahl Simonsen.
Released on Westergaard Records 12th March 2021.
lyrics
'Every glint of sun keeps fading
Who are all these people surrounding me?
I want to be part of this
I don’t want to be left alone
But I rather you did not talk to me
My language is all gone
It’s all shadows and music, mirrors and eyes reflecting
I don’t know that man, staring back at me
Why can’t he stay with us?
He is on the outside
I am trapped on the inside
Of this body
And my hands remember more than me
Why can’t he stay with us?
He is on the outside
I am trapped on the inside
Of this body
And my hands remember more than me'
